Anti-Bullying

U.S. Secretary of Education states "A school where children don't feel safe is a school where children struggle to learn. It is a school where kids drop out, tune out, and get depressed." Recent studies done by Cornell show that more students in high school are dropping out due to bullying are at an all time high. One out of every ten students drop out due to repeated bullying. The statistics on bullying in the U.S. are alarming.
  • 15% of students that are absent is out of fear of being bullied
  • 282,000 students are physically attacked in secondary schools each month
  • 1 in 12 students have attempted suicide due to bullying
Parents can give advice to their children on ways to handle a bully. But unfortunately it doesn't always stop the harassment. Online public school is available for kindergarten through twelfth grade. Families can create the environment in which their children learn. If you are a concerned parent who is worried about the long terms affect of bullying online public school would be a great option for your student.

Top 5 reasons to choose online education

If you are currently considering furthering your education but you don't know if you should do the traditional school route or distance education. Unfortunately most of the world has to work 40 hours a week in order to provide for our families or ourselves and a lot of the time education isn't our first priority. We don't all have the time to sit in a classroom five days week for hours. If you are a working adult that does not have time to attend school on campus an online class may be a better alternative for you. Because of the advancement of technology if you have access to a computer and the internet, then you can get an education online. A lot of people have reservations about taking online classes I picked the top 5 reasons why online class is more convenient and better than attending a classroom.

*ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, STUDYING - with online education you can make anywhere your classroom. you don't have to stress in traffic all day worried that you're going to be late. whenever you have time throughout the week you can go online and do your assignments you are working at your own pace.

*MORE CHOICE - Some classes that you want to take may not be available on campus depending on the degree programs that you local schools offer. But if you attend an online school you have an unlimited number of degrees to choose from.

*SELF PACED LEARNING - Online education is for people who want to work at their own pace. Although there are deadlines that you will have to meet you are allowed more than enough time to get your assignments done.

*ACCELERATED COURSES - When you attend traditional schools some semester can last up to 14 weeks but online education weeds out all of the things that aren't as important. You will learn the essentials in the course that you are taking and a semester can be as short as 5 weeks

*LOWER COST - Online education isn't necessarily "cheaper" but when you attend school on campus there are added expenses. These expenses include gas going to and from school and room and board if you live in dorms.

Is online education as effective as traditional on campus schooling? In my blog I will discuss why I feel that online education is a better alternative to tradional schooling. Many public schools, colleges, and universities now offer online courses. Online education is becoming a trend especially with adults who may have a job, family, or both and online classes work around their schedules. Through technology students can make anywhere a classroom anytime.
